Description

The Garland 1019436 Oven Thermocouple 36" Long 20-30mV T-46 is the presence of a pilot flame and produces a millivolt signal when heated. The gas safety system receives that signal to permit the flow of gas when the correct flame conditions are observed. The thermocouple is connected to the gas valve by the lead and threaded connection to transmit the signal. It is a component that is placed close to the pilot burner assembly and its sensing tip is directly exposed to the flame in compatible Series equipment.

Step1: Turn off electric supply and allow appliance to cool completely before starting to prevent burns or shock.

Step2: Remove access panel and disconnect old thermocouple from pilot assembly and control valve.

Step3: Install new thermocouple, securing tip in pilot flame area and tightening connection at valve.

Step4: Route lead carefully to avoid sharp bends or heat damage.

Step5: Reassemble panel, restore supply, and test pilot flame for stable reading.

  • What maintenance is required for the Garland 1019436 Thermocouple?

Regularly inspect the thermocouple for soot buildup, corrosion, or loose connections that may affect flame sensing accuracy. Clean the probe gently with a soft cloth and ensure proper positioning near the pilot flame. Check wiring and mounting points during routine equipment servicing. Always disconnect gas and power supplies before handling the component for safe maintenance.

  • What are common issues with the Garland 1019436 Thermocouple?

    • Low millivolt output causing pilot to drop out.
    • Misalignment with pilot flame leading to weak heat detection.
    • Carbon deposits interfering with signal transfer.
